Which is the Better Rental Option: Intermediate Car vs Economy Car

If you want to rent a car and you have two choices: An intermediate car or an economy car. Seemingly, at first glance, you can hardly make out any difference between the two, so you are confused as to which one to rent.

We take you through some of the features you need to consider that can help you decide which one would be a better and a suitable option for you when looking for the cheapest car rental in Dubai.

Broadly speaking, the major differences are - the overall size, seating capacity, luggage capacity, legroom, and fuel economy.

Let us have a look at these 5 important points to consider before you make the final decision between getting an intermediate or an economy car:

Intermediate Car for Rent

Your Budget

Generally, economy cars are priced slightly cheaper when compared to intermediate cars. If you have a tight budget, it would make more sense to go with an economy car. If the length of your trip is long or if you would be taking trips to far-off places, an economy car would work out to be much cheaper.

Number of Travelers

An economy car would be able to fit up to 2 adults and 2 kids. On the other hand, an intermediate car would be able to fit up to 5 adults comfortably. So if you have more than 2 adults who would be regularly traveling, then an intermediate car would be a better choice. However, for couples or a small group, going with an economy car would mean you don’t pay more for the space that you don’t really need.

Space for Luggage

An economy car would be able to fit a couple of small bags along with a medium-sized suitcase. Whereas, an intermediate car has more luggage space and can easily accommodate either a couple of medium-sized suitcases (or one large suitcase) along with a couple of small bags. So if you have a lot of luggage, an intermediate car would be a more suitable choice.

Fuel Economy

On average, an Economy car gives a fuel economy of around 30 miles per gallon, while an intermediate car averages around 25 miles per gallon. So, if you will be traveling a lot, your fuel costs will be lower in an economy car.

Comfort Level

Since economy cars are slightly smaller in size when compared to intermediate cars, you get more legroom in an intermediate car. That means it is more comfortable during long trips on the road. Some economy cars may come with slightly smaller seats and that can be uncomfortable if you would be spending long hours on the road.
